Me: "Where are you going, Jack?"
Jack: "Pooping."
He did. He went to his room and pooped! The clog has been removed...again!
However, I know it hurts him if I don't keep up with his Lactulose. Yesterday, he told me several times, "ouch, poop."

Jack's bowels have been moving well for 6 days now. We stopped the Clonidine and replaced it with Melatonin and added Erythromycin to Jack's medicine diet. Here's the problem. The melatonin doesn't really help Jack sleep. He wakes twice with horrible screaming fits. He didn't poop yesterday either so when I started the Clonidine back up with a good dose of Lactulose as well as the continued erythromycin, I hoped he would pass out but instead he ended up crying most of the night. He's pooped three times so far today. That explains the crying and very loud screaming. I don't know where to go from here. I guess I need to make a call in to neuro. He didn't have fits with clonidine when he pooped and he was pooping well with melatonin but having fits. Ugh...
Jack was running late today when I went to pick him up from school. Luckily, Katie was at home with Jason. I was able to catch a video of Jack walking down the hall (a VERY long way) from the Speech office.
The video is shakey because I'm walking slowly towards him while recording at the same time.
What is so special about this time? You can hear Jack crying! But, when I get close and he sees me, he's just super cute!

Well, I took Jack to the pediatrician. He doesn't have an ear infection but both ears were filled with wax. They are now clean. He smiled as they were cleaned. He also helped with the 'heart test' and let the doctor feel his belly.
He has a low grade temp. He hasn't gained any weight since January.
The doctor didn't feel any mass in his belly or bottom.
He is going to start Erythromycin for poopy problems next week. It's supposed to help Jack's poop 'move' through his gut. He's still clogged in the plumbing area. The cause might be his meds (Clonodine) we are using for sleep. Enema tonight (really don't want to do this) then a trial without the sleeping med for the week (we are to try Melatonin or 7.5ml of Benadryl). Then we start the Erythromycin.
Jack went to school . He almost puked on the way out the door. He hasn't eaten his formula over the last two nights (each night feed is half of his daily caloric intake). He's not tolerating his daily feeds well. He fusses and cries and once I stop the pump he sleeps. I think it's time for a new GI doctor.
I've had this burdon weighing on me for quite a while.
I recently attended Jack's parent-teacher conference with his new teacher.
I don't even want to get into specifics because I'll be writing this for weeks!
Jack is a disturbance in class (of course)
He won't use the PECS system to choose toys for free play (so they should make him work on it not just give up, right?)
He is improving with his new speech therapist but he isn't doing what his SLP wants him to do (he doesn't do what I want him to do either)
He still isn't meeting his goals with his occupational therapist. He hasn't met his goals for like, ever (he is so stubborn)
He didn't pass any goals in physical therapy (he yells and screams)
I'm worried he'll get dropped if he doesn't show improvements. I am starting to think we need to up the therapy outside of school but he's so stinking stubborn.
On a side note,
Not like you really want to know, Jack is still suffering (or msybe just suffering again) from discomfort in the plumbing area, he's been asking for his pediatrician for 2 weeks (when this recent episode started) and started requesting the otoscope for his right ear ("I want flashlight. Ear test.") this morning. I guess I'll be calling the nurse first thing in the morning. This will make for an interesting conversation.
Here's a silly picture of Jack trying to sit on a baby doll wheelchair.
