Acting like a 2yr old

Ok. Jack is totally a two-year-old. He took his pants off, while laying on the floor, on his back, and moving around. He wiggled right out of them. And...he laughed!

On a different note, jack saw his gi doctor yesterday (Thursday). The doctor hasn't been able to find a liquid vitamin A, so...we are to give jack 30cc concentrated carrot juice each day (his vitamin A is low). We have been warned that jack's skin may turn orange-ish.

Well, at least one person in our house will have a tan!

little reader

jackson has been talking so much lately. he also asks for books, especially one called First Words. he does that thing that little ones do, probably much younger than him, but I am so proud. he searches for a certain page each time, closes the book, then searches again. so sweet!

it's about time!

It's official, at least for now! Jackson is 20lbs! Exactly 20lbs. He is 9kg! Woohoo! He can now face forward, legally, in the van or car. Note the 'legally' comment.   :)

He intentionally says, not signs, says: "mama", "byebye", and when on a play phone or pretend banana, "eh whoa"

I saw jack standing there

Quick update and some pictures.
jackson saw the nephrologist (kidney) doctor tuesday. the appointment went very well. we are to continue giving jack his potassium citrate/cytric acid but we need to spread out the dosage throughout the day. the polycytra-k helps contral the calcium levels in jack's kidneys. the doctors are concerned about jack's risks for kidney stones. a urine sample was taken to test for crystals, and all that other fun stuff. we don't have to go back for a year. yippee!
oh, and to explain the title of today's post:
the picture is at school, the STEPs program. jack is in his stander for 10 minutes twice a week.
jack was having a good old time until he saw me...and he even said "mama" when he saw me. oh, and my mom has been here all week helping out while my back heals. jack said "ga ma" when he saw her the first night, sunday. he really loves her. it's sweet.

give me a drink

well, life is interesting and difficult right now. Besides having a Jack that gets very upset when he wants something and gets terribly upset when we don't understand, I am supposed sit or lay, and abstain from carrying, lifting, and pushing, for 6weeks. I pulled or tore (don't know) a muscle in my lower back. yah! it's near impossible...i have backup coming though!

jack was sitting on my lap today and grabbed evelyn's empty cup and straw. he gave me multiple sips. it was very intentional. when I told him I was finished he put the cup away.

wow!

time for progress

We knew the time would come when Jackson would have trouble communicating with us. The time is NOW! Over the weekend Jackson discovered the frustrations of communication. He is saying more and more words, all that originated from signing, but when it comes to what he wants, where he wants to go, what he needs, he is having trouble. This results in crying, screaming, clapping very loud, hitting himself on the stomach or head, hitting us, or kicking anything within reach.
Jason and I quickly shared this with the Speech Therapist. Supposedly, this is a developmental milestone (Jack wants something and he knows it, but he also knows that he's having trouble telling us).

Jackson will begin the PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)
We've already given the therapist a list of Jackson's favorite toys, foods, locations in the house, and household items. She will create the special picture cards that will be used with the system. If you would like to learn about the PECS System, please feel free to click on the link above.

Oh, and Jack sat in bed with Jason this evening, watching TV and snacking on popcorn. He couldn't get enough (yes, the kernels were removed first) and was signing and saying "pop".

Awesome!

Oh, and another thing...This morning, Jackson was eating MultiGrain Cheerios at the kitchen table. He ran out of dry cereal, and instead of pointing to the Cheerios box and saying "mo" he turned, pointed to the Froot Loops box and said "mo"

the gears are turning

jack sat in his highchair for twenty minutes after lunch, trying with all of his might, to:
1. put his shoe on his foot (he got his toes in, one hand holding the shoe, the other hand guiding his foot)
2. trying to buckle his safety belt (he was working so hard)
